The Ozark Cave Diving Alliance

Ebbing Spring

Late spring of 2005 we were invited to look into this small spring to see if it was going anywhere. Sometimes these little adventures can be a lot of fun so we packed up and headed out. A few of our members are current NSS members that really enjoy a mixture of dry and wet cave (Shannon used to head up the Tulsa Grotto).

The upper entrance. Poison ivy and chiggers are everywhere.

Brian backs down the entrance slot.

It's tight till you get to the water.

David Kampwerth climbs up to grab some tanks.

Shannon gets horizontal in the small stream passage.

It gets a little wider here.

Only to get smaller again.

Looking at the ceiling.

Getting ready to dive the sump.

The dive team disappears.

Cave Salamanders were everywhere.

The dive team returns in 10 minutes with bad news. The passage pinched down.

That left plenty of time to look around the spring pool.

Perhaps this is a type of fungus?

Interesting white strand growing out of the ground.

Looks like a high flow outlet in the back of the room.

This salamander looks like it lost part of it's tail recently.

Remarkable pattern on this cave cricket's carapace.

Downstream from the spring was an old schoolhouse with a huge pool.

This place must have been popular on hot days being full of cool spring water.
