The Ozark Cave Diving Alliance

Crystal Cave

In the spring of 2005 the OCDA was asked to determine where this spring system went to. Rumors abounded from years ago and the local neighbors had some interesting stories about the place. It was used as an Native American burial ground previous to this part of the country being settled. The property owner and his wife run tours through the grounds and cave system during the warmer months of the year.

The gated entrance to Crystal Cave.

It's a little walk down to the underground lake.

Sometimes the water level is above these steps.

Jason and Shannon gear up to check it out.

The vis looks great for diving today!

Shannon doing survey.

Here's an old Coke bottle that's been here a while.

An explorer reel left here by a previous dive party.

Disler spikes work well in the silty bottom.

An old well casing that surfaces across the main street in town.

At one point this lake drained when they punched the well shaft thru the floor. People walked here for a brief time.

Nik ties off prior to the tunnel push.

Nik enters the sidemount tunnel with silty bottom. It was zero vis on the way out.

Aquatic isopods were in abundance.

Jason and Shannon finish up and surface.

Water as clear as Florida but in Arkansas!
