Roubidoux Spring   10-2011

In October of 2011 the OCDA returned to Roubidoux Spring to continue exploration efforts. After an initial dive repairing line in the front part of the system a longer range dive was planned for the later part of the month. On the 29th a long range team repaired the remaining line in the system paving the way for another exploration attempt. This dive was accomplished with intermediate, short range, and surface support. This was truly a team effort that ran from 7am until after sunset. Hopefully good diving conditions will hold through November.

Rob showed up early to assemble his portable wood burning stove. Talk about warming up a cold morning. Duck hunters show up prepared!

After the safety meeting it was time to get all the gear into the water. There was a sizable amount of gear to hump.

Chris Hill gets his scooter ready to splash while Rob gets gear out to the spring entrance. Rob really went the distance that day.

The lowered angle of the sun really showed off the spring entrance and the large fish swimming against the current.

The long range team of Bennett/Wallace getting ready to head out for line repairs. The RB80's are really working out for these longer dives.

Dirk Bennett gearing down after a long dive in the back of Roubidoux.

Dirk Bennett and Shannon Wallace after finishing an 8 hour dive repairing line in the back of the system. They also got to add a little bit as they looked around to ascertain trending depth.

Chris Hill and Bill Crowley exit the spring after a long day working intermediate range and then as a safety team.

Steve Gridley and Ben Perkins wrap things up as they shut down the habitat and call it a day. Ben Perkins got the Bust Ass award of the day. Good Job!
